BREAKING NEWS: Germany Joins CAVS Armoured Personnel Carrier Consortium
Agreement Between Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany
Germany has joined the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, a collaboration between the participant nations of Finland, Latvia, and Sweden. The agreement was initially established in 2022, and Germany's involvement marks a significant step forward in the initiative.
Based on Patria's XA-300
The CAVS will be built on Patria's XA-300 six-wheeled armoured personnel carrier. The vehicle, known for its reliability and versatility, will provide a robust platform for the new combat system.
Kongsberg Collaboration
Patria and Kongsberg have entered into a collaboration agreement to provide weapon stations for the CAVS. Kongsberg's expertise in weapon systems will enhance the combat effectiveness of the armoured personnel carrier.
German Modernisation Strategy
The German government's decision to join CAVS is part of its 7 billion modernization strategy. The Bundeswehr intends to confirm an order for hundreds of Patria 66 APCs, which will serve as the flagship of the CAVS program.
