KKR Acquires 47% Stake

Private equity firm KKR has acquired a 47% stake in ProSiebenSat1 Media, a leading German media company. The deal values ProSiebenSat1 at approximately €10 billion.

KKR and Permira Win Bidding War

KKR and Permira emerged as the winners in a competitive bidding process that also included a consortium led by Bain Capital and Advent International. ProSiebenSat1 had been exploring a potential sale since June 2022.

The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2023, subject to regulatory approvals.

KKR's Plans for ProSiebenSat1

KKR plans to support ProSiebenSat1's continued growth and expansion, both domestically and internationally. The firm believes that the company's strong position in the German media market and its potential for digital transformation make it an attractive investment.

ProSiebenSat1 operates a portfolio of television channels, radio stations, and digital platforms. It is the second-largest commercial broadcaster in Germany, behind RTL Group.
